Throat Maintenance – 5 Tips On How to Take Care of Your Throat
Hi everybody, today I am inspired to share with you on ways to take care of your throat so that you don’t damage your voice. It is important to take care of your voice so that you can do more acting, singing, and speaking work consistently. So how do you take care of your voice? Here are the five (5) tips from me on how to take care of your throat:- 1. Always Drink Warm Drinks. If Can, Avoid Cold Drinks Warm drinks soothe and lubricate your throat. If your throat is dry, your voice is easier to become hoarse and will damage your throat. Do you know that cold drinks can shock your vocal cords. But doesn’t mean that hot water is good because if the drinks are too hot, it can cause inflammation to the throat and mucus production will be increased too. This will affect your singing. So my advice is, stick with warm drinks. 2. Avoid Eating Fried, Oily and Spicy Food Unless you are already getting used to eating these things and it won’t affect your singing. If it’s not, better avoid consuming food like these because it will produce phlegms and sometimes triggers mucus production too because these food are heaty to the body. 3. Try Doing Some Meditation This helps me. When my body is relaxed, the muscles and organs in my body are relaxed as well. It will help to clear out the phlegms and mucus easily and you will be able to breathe easily too. When you are relaxed, it’s easy for you to sing and hit a higher pitch too. 4. Avoid Talking, Shouting and/or Yelling Too Much When It’s Unnecessary Do you know if you talk too much, your vocal cords will sound tired. It’s easy to know when somebody else is listening to your voice. Talking too much and not drinking a lot of fluid to lubricate your throat will dry out your throat very fast. So, avoid talking, shouting, and/or yelling when it’s not necessary. 5. Take Honey and Always Gargle Salt Water Honey is able to coat your throat and relieve soreness and dryness of your throat. So take a tablespoon of honey every day is good. Saltwater is able to eliminate all the viruses and bacterias that are sticking inside your throat. So, try to gargle salt water first thing in the morning and before sleep will help to keep your throat healthy. I hope this article enlightens you on how to take care of your throat. I’ll share more tips in the future.
Be a Good Singer – Change Your Modern Habits Now!
Living in modern days is a luxury because you can easily get the equipment and tools you needed to listen to songs, sing karaoke or to perform on the stage. But it’s important that all of us go back to basic in order to truly work on our voice so that you can really sing nicely without relying on artificial effects. So how do we get started? It’s easy! 1. Stop Using the Earphones and Headphones My first tip is to stop using earphones and headphones. This is because it blocks you from really listening to your voice. It is important to listen to how’s your voice sounds like when you sing. If the earphones or headphones block your ears from listening, your voice will sound like in a bubble and you’ll not be able to assess your voice carefully. So remember, do not block your ears at all. Yes, it’s very nice to listen to music through earphones and headphones but it’s bad to train yourself to listen and to project your voice. 2. Singing in the Shower I mean who doesn’t like singing in the shower. We feel relax when we shower and the echo of the toilet compliments our voice perfectly! But in reality, it’s best to find a place that has less echo to practice your singing because you need to be able to hear your real voice without any effects on how it sounds like. Then only you’ll know how to work on your voice better. 3. Singing in the Car In Malaysia, we spend lots of time in the car because we always stuck in traffic before and after work. So you might be singing a lot in the car. Well, you can do it for light and leisure singing but it’s best to not do it if you are trying to practice real singing. First, it’s for safety. You don’t want to end up in an accident because you are reading the lyrics or focusing on the music and not on driving. Second is, you are singing in a contained space so you can’t really project as loud as you can. Real singing needs you to project twice the loudness that you do in the car so it’s not really productive if you choose to practice real singing in the car. 4. Using Microphones that has Built-In Speakers Have you seen those microphones that have built-in speakers? That is a fun and dream device that everyone who loves to sing would like to have. I have one, to be honest. But I don’t use it for professional purposes because it sounded like I am singing in a karaoke room. So I’ll just use it for fun purposes only. If you really love to sing and would like to do it professionally, try to invest a good quality mic such as Rode or Samson brands. Go back to the Homepage now to read more articles written by me!
